About This Spot

Stepping into Madeena Restaurant, you find yourself welcomed by a familiar, unpretentious vibe—an inviting neighborhood spot that quietly carries the weight of years, nestled comfortably in the heart of Al Khobar. There’s a steady, unhurried rhythm here, where the focus is on the simple pleasure of a satisfying meal rather than flash or hurry. The atmosphere hums with the quietly engaged conversations of regulars and families drawn by the promise of authentic South Indian flavors.

The pace at Madeena tends towards the relaxed side, a place where mornings begin with soft, fragrant bites of idly and dosa paired with vibrant chutneys and comforting sambar. The restaurant’s charm is found not only in its menu but in the everyday moments shared across tables—the clink of steel plates, the gentle clatter of dosa being skillfully folded, and the contented hum of those savoring familiar tastes. While the setting may lean towards function over flair, there is a quiet sense of place here, a steady connection to the rich South Indian traditions it honors.

For those who visit, Madeena becomes more than just a meal; it’s a comforting ritual, a daily pause with a menu that subtly shifts, offering variety within the comfort zone of authentic flavors. Whether enjoying a vegetarian thali that changes in character day to day or exploring the spices woven through each curry, there is a grounded sincerity to the experience.

This is a spot where the focus rests on the food’s integrity and the daily rhythm of service, drawing a community that values familiarity and honest cooking over trend or spectacle. Madeena quietly holds its place as a staple for those craving genuine South Indian cuisine without pretense, offering a taste that feels like a small, welcoming discovery within the broader landscape of Al Khobar’s dining scene.

One of the oldest restaurants in Khobar — a must-try for their Ghee Masala Dosa. However, they should improve their service speed and arrange a proper family section with more privacy.

Ideal place to have your daily lunch and dinner. The Vegetarian Thali is served with different flavours every day. The taste of the curries change every day, so that you don't get bored every day.

Authentic tasting dosa, idly, and vada. These are in morning. Around 11.30 is biriyani and some beef fry/Curry. Then at supper time they have different things. The sauces/curry/chutney etc are excellent, they don't taste old or sour, the few times I ate, fresh and great. In morning there is no beef curry as in jeddah so I gave 4 stars. Also I havnt tried the biriyani and other dinner/supper dishes. I had a eggs and fried onion fish in morning but didn't like it, it's almost all onion. Edit: Had biriyani Beef pepper fry (has red sauce but like sweet Chinese flavor- but it's indian and spicy, very good and soft meat) Beef fry (is drier with onions and beef and Indian spices. It is similar to African fries meat but done as indian( We had 4 rice dishes, 2 beef dishes, and 1 3 piece egg. Total was around 135 with 2 water. Really impressed. I don't know why this is 4 stars only. A nearby restaurant the kerela chef is 4.4 (it is cheaper but less quality and flavor), the numbers should be reversed. Authentic south indian flavor % My only complaint are sometimes it a too spicy and there are too many onions. So in the samosa, it is crunchy but inside is 99% onions, I had way too much gas.

Been here a few times. South Indian cuisine. They do Dosas, which many people like, Indian breakfasts and the usual South Indian foods (chicken chilli, chicken 65, fish masala etc). The food is decent, not amazing but decent. There are other Indian restaurants within this area with better food, however the pricing and food go hand in hand at this place. They do a good idli (rice flour pastry soaked in spicy lentils) and their biriyanis are nice. They also do great soups. Seating area is a bit busy and they have a family section too. Friendly staff and they speak English as well as their local Indian language.

One of the best south Indian restaurants in the heart of Khobar

I am visiting this restaurant since 2015. This is one of the best South Indian restaurant in Khobar Dammam area. Their ghee roast and paneer dosa is superb. I also love the idli idli which is always well cooked and fluffy. Overall the quality of the food and taste is superb. Though the family section has a bit tight space and crowded on weekend. Prices are also reasonable. All the staff members are polite. Over the years, one of the staff has become so close and friendly, that my kids used to call him mama. this is one of the best south Indian restaurant in Khobar, Aqrabiyah.
